Abstract
Ever since its appearance in antiquity; skepticism has often been represented as a negative philosophical tradition. ln emphasizing the fallibility of human cognition, the skeptics established a series of arguments aimed at the claims to certain knowledge postulated by different dogmatic philosophies. The article's central purpose is to point out that in addition to this destructive agenda - the Pyrrhonic war machine - skepticism also laid out positive arguments in its battle with dogmatic philosophies. These arguments provide a description of social life. ln the same fashion as other models of political philosophy, skepticism constructs an image of a possible social world, one whose central aspects are praise of common life and adoption of an attitude capable of combining obedience to traditional rituals with a cosmopolitan and anti-ethnocentric will.
