Abstract
The article compares some utopias hypothesizing a good society and examines attendant questions. Different conceptions of what is socially just - from classical authors down through contemporary debate - serve as the starting point for this discussion. Issues such as freedom, property, collective action, prosperity, and legitimate State intervention are debated.
