Abstract
The article offers a preliminary discussion about the impact of agrarian policies on the rural-urban migration process in Latin America, particularly Mexico and Peru. Although the policies dealt with in this article have practically never had explicit demographic aims, their impact on populational movements has been decisive and, therefore, urgently demands a detailed study. ln principle, even a mere survey of the possible demographic consequences of particular government policies could provide relevant material for policy decisions. The article should be considered as a suggestion for future research in that direction.
