Abstract
These notes have a twofold objective: (1) to provide a substantive contribution to the issue of the Brazilian elite's thinking by examining their opinions on certain social policies; and (2) to illustrate possibilities for reflection based on some data analysis techniques, particularly factorial, variance, and regression analysis. One of the main conclusions is that patterns of support among various sectors of the Brazilian elite vary according to the nature of the social policies considered.
