Dados es una de las principales publicaciones de ciencias sociales en América Latina. Creada en 1966, publica trabajos inéditos e innovadores, procedentes de investigaciones académicas, de autores brasileños y extranjeros. Editada por IESP-UERJ, tiene como objetivo conciliar el rigor científico y la excelencia académica con un énfasis en el debate público basado en el análisis de temas sustantivos en la sociedad y la política.

Resumen
This paper is an exploratory study of political relations in the cattle raising sector in Brazil. Three basic questions are investigated. First, the various actors' capacity to collectively articulate their interests; second, the confront between the interest representation system and the public bureaucracy; and, third, the dilemmas that arise between interest representation and the instrumental rationality of public policies. The study is based on a survey of interest groups' representatives and higher civil servants as well as on documentary evidence collected in the files of the Ministry of Agriculture in 1979.
