Resumen
Given certain relations of production, the classes and the fractions which shape them define themselves in a mutual rather than in an autonomous relationship. The opposition of interests which characterizes these relations expresses itself through specific influences in the economic dimension as well as in the political and ideological ones. The fact that the class conflict is not always the dominant conflict does not signify that it is inexistent at any moment of historical development. Class determination imposes differences in the organization and ideological world view of distinct human groups. These differences will have greater or lesses efficacies (depending upon the course of the struggle) in the explanation of the social participation of the members of each one of the classes. The institutional forms in which society organizes itself are the result of a certain articulation of the relations of power. As a result, the institutions do not express the original conflict, but rather an equilibrium whose stabilization is a function of these institutions. When the sectorial differentiations recognized in these institutions appear to refer to the classes, this happens only to the extent that the institutions eliminate from themselves their conflictive character. This obliges us to differentiate analytically between "level of classes" and "level of the institutions". ln other words, social relations are always institutionalized relations that are shaped by and react upon these institutions. Only by analytically separating both aspects are we able to understand the dialectic classes - institutions. ln this way we do not loose sight of the social contradictions that are the basis of the historical process and do not transform the classes into historical agents independent of the institutional forms which organize them.
