Legislatura e Processo Decisório de Política Econômica: Ou, Quando as Instituições Contam

Monteiro, Jorge Vianna

Resumo

The study of legislative decision-making processes is essential to an understanding of economic policy within representative governments and has broadened the economist's perception of the characteristics of institutional arrangements. A good share of the progress in this sense has come thanks to the public choice research program, which the article summarizes in four analytical blocks: institutional balance, the behavior of public agents, agent-sponsor relations, and the credibility of economic policy commitments.
